Nearly 17 years after the attacks that changed the path of history, a senior Iranian regime official has in a recent interview used remarks admitting to the mullahs facilitating September 11 terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda members.
Tehran secretly aided and turned a blind eye to al-Qaeda operatives’ activities, individuals who went on to use commercial airliners to fly into the iconic Twin Towers of New York City.
Mohammad-Javad Larijani, an assistant of international affairs in the Iranian regime’s so-called judiciary, disclosed how Iranian intelligence authorities secretly facilitated passage for al-Qaeda attackers. Delivering his words in an interview with Iranian state-run TV and speaking in Farsi, Larijani said the terrorist operatives were also provided refuge inside Iran.
"Our government agreed not to stamp the passports of some of them because they were on transit flights for two hours, and they were resuming their flights without having their passports stamped. However, their movements were under the complete supervision of the Iranian intelligence," Larijani was quoted as saying.
Mohammad-Javad Larijani is brother to parliament chief Ali Larijani and judiciary chief Sadeq Larijani.
His words represent a first for any senior Iranian regime official publicly recognizing and literally admitting to facilitating al-Qaeda, and thus playing an undeniable direct role in smoothing the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Washington has for years continuously accused Tehran of having a role in the 9/11 catastrophe, resulting in its judiciary taking steps to fine the Iranian regime billions. The U.S. 9/11 Commission, missioned to probe the attacks extensively, reached a damning conclusion of the Iranian regime playing a role in facilitating al-Qaeda terrorists. The general appeasement approach vis-à-vis the Iranian regime prevented any serious actions against the ruling mullahs.
Larijani continued to say Iranian authorities did not stamp the al-Qaeda operatives’ passport to cloak their movements and hinder any detection by foreign governments.
"The Americans took this as evidence of Iran's cooperation with al-Qaeda and viewed the passage of an airplane through Iran's airspace, which had one of the pilots who carried out the attacks and a Hezbollah military leader sitting [next to] him on board, as evidence of direct cooperation with al-Qaeda through the Lebanese Hezbollah," Larijani was quoted as saying in the May 30 interview.
This further proves the necessity for the international community to adopt a firm policy against Iran’s regime to reign its conglomerate of belligerencies once and for all.
