Iran is ruled by mass murderers

The Iranian regime executed 30,000 political prisoners in the summer of 1988.

In 1988, the Iranian regime executed 30,000 political prisoners in the span of a few months, most of the members and supporters of the PMOI/MEK. It was Khomeini himself, then supreme leader of the Iranian regime, who gave the order to purge the prisons of all opposition members, such a crime couldn’t have become possible without the involvement of a very large number of the regime’s authorities.

While Khomeini died less than a year later after he ordered that heinous crime against humanity, a considerable number of the known perpetrators of the 1988 massacre continue to serve at the highest levels of authority and power in the Iranian regime, and they still haven’t been brought to justice.
In the past few years, a widespread international movement, both in Iran and abroad, has been gathering evidence and testimonies about the 1988 executions, which Iranian regime has tried to cover up for three decades.
Justice for the Victims of 1988 Massacre in Iran (JVMI), a London-based non-profit organization that launched in 2016, has gathered a list of officials that were directly involved in the orchestration of the sentencing and execution of political prisoners. The obtained information is far from comprehensive, but it gives a glimpse of how the Iranian regime commits crimes with impunity.

Crimes in the highest positions of power

Ali Khamenei and Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, respectively the president and speaker of parliament at the time of the massacre, closely coordinated and planned the massacre with Khomeini. After Khomeini’s death, Khamenei went on to become his successor and Rafsanjani continued to hold key positions of power until his death in 2017. Both have continued to defend the crimes of their regime and the execution of thousands of innocent people, many of whom had been arrested for simply reading or selling the Mojahedin newspaper.
