IRAN FUTURE WITH MARYAM RAJAVI

INU- Maryam Rajavi, the President of the Iranian Resistance, was born into a middle-class Iranian family, with many of her siblings also serving as political activists. During the rule of the Shah, her brother Mahmoud was put in prison for his activism, while her sister Narges was killed by the Shah’s secret police (SAVAK).
Maryam Rajavi first became involved in the resistance movement when she was an engineering student at Tehran’s Sharif University of Technology in the 1970s.

Maryam Rajavi joined the student movement of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in 1973 and served in the group’s social department from 1979 to 1981, during which time she also stood as a candidate for parliament in the first elections following the overthrow of the shah. Maryam Rajavi received over 250,000 votes, but did not gain a seat in parliament, which was later discovered to be the result of widespread voter fraud on behalf of the mullahs that kept all opposition leaders out of parliament.
It was then that Maryam Rajavi suffered another loss, this time at the hands of the mullahs. Her pregnant sister Massoumeh, an industrial engineering student, was arrested, tortured, and hanged for her activism.
In 1985, Maryam Rajavi became joint-leader of the MEK for four years, before becoming its secretary general in 1989. Then in 1993, she took up her current post as president-elect of the parliament-in-exile National Council of Resistance of Iran; a coalition of democratic Iranian opposition groups, with the MEK as its largest member.
Maryam Rajavi’s role is to lead the Iranian people and their organised democratic resistance to the overthrow of the mullahs and to a free Iran. She will serve as the President of Iran for a transitional period, not to exceed six months, until a free and fair election can be held and a truly representative national assembly can be formed. Maryam Rajavi will then hand over power to the elected representatives.
Until that day, Maryam Rajavi serves as a figurehead for the Iranian resistance, inspiring people across Iran to rise up against the mullahs, as well as the head of the true Iranian government.
In her tenure as president of the Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi has achieved so many objectives that it is hard to list them all here, but we will do so briefly. She has:
• Increased the number of women holding leadership positions in the Iranian Resistance to over 50% of total roles
• Made numerous speeches about the tolerant and democratic Islam and decried fundamentalism
• Made the case for the international community not to appease or launch a war on the Iranian Regime, but to instead support the Iranian people and their democratic resistance
• Garnered worldwide support for the Iranian resistance
• Achieved the safe relocation of MEK members from Iraq, where they faced attacks from the Iran-backed government, to Albania
• Successfully led the campaign to remove the MEK from terror watch lists, where they were wrongly placed to appease the Regime
• Started the movement calling for justice for the 30,000 victims of the 1988 Iranian massacre, which largely targeted MEK members

Future looks bright for Iran

Former Algerian prime minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali

Despite four decades of domestic crackdown and fueling foreign wars, scenes viewed from inside Iran in the past six months prove this dissatisfied nation is rising against the mullahs’ actions in bold fashion and setting their fears aside.
The Iranian people are braving all odds, posing serious challenges for the ruling regime and taking to the streets to encounter the entire mullah apparatus, according to a recent Townhall piece written by former Algerian prime minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali.
This decades-long struggle has seen the Iranian people sacrifice over 120,000 members of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) members and supporters. This year also marks the 30thanniversary of the summer 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners, mostly linked to the PMOI/MEK. These innocent victims sacrificed their all for freedom and democracy, and their legacy is beginning to bear fruit as the Iranian people are rising ever more against the regime.
While claiming otherwise, the Iranian regime has failed in dozens of attempts to eliminate the PMOI/MEK and all other forms of dissent and opposition. This comes after years of “massacres, executions, psychological warfare, and disinformation campaigns against the organized opposition,” according to Ghozali.
The PMOI/MEK is proving to be active and influential as ever, working with its vast network inside the country and making the nationwide protests we have witnessed in the Dec/Jan uprising, Kazerun and truckers’ strike possible.
The PMOI/MEK’s activities are not limited to inside Iran. Various forums and sessions are held across the globe in numerous parliaments and other institutions, holding discussions with policymakers and other influential figures to shed light on the reality of Iran and the mullahs’ regime, and provide the solutions presented by their resistance movement.
At the helm of the Iranian opposition is Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a parliament-in-exile enjoying vast support on both side of the Atlantic, the Middle East and even North Africa.
The NCRI has roots inside Iran and the Iranian Diaspora, seen in the numerous rallies and the annual convention held each year in Paris and attended by more than 100,000 people.
Furthermore, hundreds of politicians from five continents come to this convention, voicing their support for a better future in Iran through regime change. This year’s event is scheduled for June 30th and considering the recent developments inside Iran and across the region, and with the United States setting aside its highly controversial and failed appeasement policy, this year’s convention is already of grave political importance.
True change is coming to Iran and the people are proving they will bring this transition by courageously taking it to the regime and its crackdown machine. With the mullahs set aside, Iran is bound to welcome democratic change through the efforts of its people and organized resistance movement.
Iran will become an “oasis of freedom and democracy, a center of security, and brotherhood, serving the Iranian people’s interests building a peaceful friendship with its neighbors and all countries of the world.”

Free Iran Gathering: A window into the future of Iran

Iranian opposition convention for free Iran, Paris

Free Iran, the Iranian resistance’s annual convention, plays an important role in achieving the goals of the Iranian opposition.
First and foremost, the rally symbolizes the legitimacy and capacity of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the largest and most-organized Iranian opposition coalition. The gathering defies severe political and logistical constraints and the schemes and machinations of the Iranian regime. Any impartial observer can confirm that an independent opposition movement that can hold such a large gathering of Iranian diaspora will be able to gather a very large base of support once it returns to its own country.
Every year, the Free Iran Gathering explores a wide range of issues that the Iranian opposition faces.
After the invasion of Iraq in 2003 and the establishment of an Iran-backed government in Baghdad, Tehran’s main goal was to annihilate members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) who were in Camps Ashraf and Liberty, Iraq. The Iranian regime staged several raids and rocket attacks against MEK members in Iraq through its agents and proxies in Iraq.
During these years, the main focus of the Iran Freedom Gathering was the protection and security of MEK members in Ashraf and Liberty.
The presence and participation of prominent political figures in the rally and their subsequent activities prevented the Iranian regime and its agents in Iraq from secretly plotting against the residents of Ashraf and Liberty.
These efforts culminated in the resettlement of MEK members from Iraq to Albania.
Other important feats that the Free Iran Gathering and the international support for the MEK helped accomplish was the delisting of the MEK from the list of foreign terrorist organizations in EU and US, a designation that had been part of the policy of rapprochement toward the Iranian regime.
The Iran Gathering also discusses the Iranian regime’s suppressive measures against the people, imprisonment and execution of political dissidents, plundering of the country’s wealth and its violent intervention in countries of the Middle East region.
An important part of the rally has always been support for the protests of the Iranian people. In 2009, the Free Iran Gathering coincided with nationwide protests in Iran, and it became the biggest opposition rally in support of the uprising of the Iranian people.
After the December 2017/January 2018 protests in Iran, the world witnessed that that the Iranian people want nothing short of regime change.
Therefore, this year’s gathering will be held with a focus on supporting the heroic uprising of the Iranian people and their just demand for freedom.
Following the series of setbacks the Iranian regime has faced in Iran and across the globe, this year’s Free Iran Gathering will be a reminder of the true alternative to the autocratic rule of the mullahs.
Under these circumstances, democratic change in Iran has become inevitable, and this year’s rally will be representative of the Iranian people’s will for the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime and their desire to live in a free and democratic nation based on the separation of church and state.
Everyone can add their voice to this gathering and support the cause of freedom and democracy in Iran.
