Iran nationwide truck drivers on Strike
Following a previous call for a massive strike, truck drivers in various cities including Kariz Taybad, Bam, Arsanjan, Marvdasht, Kavar, Sabzevar, Isfahan, Zarrin Shahr, Bukan, Zarand Kerman, Garmeh, Gonabad, Nowshahr, Shahreza, Dehgolan, Torbat-e Heydariyeh, Torbat-e Jam, Baghmolk and Anzali launched a massive nationwide strike today.
These truck drivers are protesting increasing prices of spare parts, tires and commission, parallel to their low wages, adding they are facing extreme difficulties in regards to their daily living conditions.
Truck drivers in an industrial complex east of Isfahan continued their second day of such strikes on Monday, protesting their limbo status quo. They intend to continue their strike until their issues are resolved.
Last week, these protesting truck drivers had staged numerous gatherings protesting their low wages and poor living conditions. Their problems have been left unanswered for years, with some drivers having to wait 20 days for their next turn to deliver a new round of goods.
The Iranian regime’s Tax Organization has also increased load taxes and is literally plundering these drivers. Authorities in some cities such as Isfahan increased wages for a small number of drivers, with the intention of causing rifts among the protesting drivers. Their plot failed and the drivers are emphasizing on their unity and continuing their strikes.
In Bandar Anzali, northern Iran, regime authorities issued a statement claiming wages have increased from 12 to 17 percent, claiming to have signatures of various truck driver union officials.
Such measures have not been able to fool the protesting truck drivers as they stand firm regarding their rightful demands.
